ERP Customization

Converting from a legacy system to a new ERP system, several customizations and Task Automations were needed in my current role. I wanted to share a few that I worked on to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

Multi-warehouse Orders

Customer service reps needed a way to enter items from multiple warehouse locations within the same order. We were surprised to find that the new ERP system did not allow this. Orders could be shipped from multiple warehouses, but each order had to be separated by warehouse. We implemented a solution to this by saving multiple location’s shipping information in a custom field, passed to a custom screen shown to allow the selection of a shipping option for each location.

Multi-warehouse Order Review

Further customization was needed from there to set freight costs for each location, flowing through to the pick ticket and invoice. This has proven to be a reliable update to the system, giving customer service reps the speed needed when placing multi-warehouse orders.

Check Stock

A quick way to check stock across all locations was also needed. The default process for doing this took several steps and could not be adopted while meeting current expectations for order entry speed. We were able to provide one screen to view stock in all locations, selecting the desired location for the current line item.
